Choosing the perfect breed is incredibly important to us here at Pipers Farm. We have specifically chosen Bronze turkeys for their ability to grow slowly over a long period, this creates a proper texture to our turkey meat. We hatch our birds in early Spring. They spend their first few weeks feathering up in a toasty barn. Once ready, we release our Bronze Turkeys into the cider orchards where they eat a diet of simple cereals, herbaceous forage, and windfall apples. Once they have reached natural maturity we dry pluck each Bronze turkey by hand and hang them for 12 days to create a beautifully flavoursome juicy bird.
