Preserved Lemons

These small, fine-skinned, preserved lemons bring a beautiful fragrance to a wide variety of dishes.

Preserved lemons are essential to North African kitchens, where they're used to add brightness, salt, and depth to tagines and stews, dressings and sauces, and countless other dishes.

Our Belazu Beldi Lemons are hand sorted and graded for size and quality. They are then packed up by hand to ensure that the fruit does not bruise and retains its fragrant aroma. Winner of a prestigious 3 Great Taste stars from the Guild of Fine Foods, a coveted accolade awarded to fewer than 2 in every 100 entries.

It all started in 1991 when Adam and George founded The Fresh Olive Company, later to become Belazu. With a passion for Mediterranean flavours the duo literally set out their stall at world famous Borough Market.

Belazu is founded in a simple principle, that every product has its place and its people.

They know them all personally. Their single-estate Early Harvest Extra Virgin Olive Oil, for example, is made by Eduard and his family in a mill at the heart of their Arbequina olive groves in Catalonia. Eduard tastes 70 oils a day at the peak of production season, and can pick varietals wearing a blindfold. Adam and George have watched him do it for decades.

Belazu buys ethically and is committed to sustainably. They have even set up the Belazu Foundation, which supports food and education projects for kids and young people in the UK and the Mediterranean.
