Beenleigh

Beenleigh Reserve

From £32.00

The only commercial Bordeaux blend in the UK. As the most decorated red wine in the country, this rich and complex style offers an enticing nose and complex finish.

Harvested in November and driven the short two miles to Sharpham winery. Crushed and left to soak for three days followed by fermentation on the skins for a further one week. Pressed out and put through malolactic fermentation before being pumped into oak barrels for a minimum of three years. The final vintage is added in unoaked to add a burst of black fruit.

Nose: Aromas of sweet blackcurrant, green pepper, leather, vanilla and cured meats.

Palate: A juicy acidity and gentle tannins are accompanied by a long, complex finish.

75cl 13% ABV

For bottles with corks, be sure to store your wine horizontally in a wine rack. Keeping wine on its side helps keep the cork moist, which is key for long-term storage, as a dried out cork can cause seepage and premature aging.

While it’s not necessary to keep screw top wine bottles on their sides, horizontal storage is nevertheless an efficient way to store your wines for maximum space and easy access.

About the producer

Sharpham Estate were in the first wave of modern vineyards to get going after the demise of all commercial vineyards during World War II and have been at the heart of the industry for 37 years.

The magnificent 550-acre estate sat on the River Dart in South Devon, is home to the Sharpham Trust, a charitable foundation that has been supporting others since 1982.

At the heart of the Sharpham Trust ethos is their desire to build a more mindful, compassionate and environmentally sustainable world. They also happen to make some fabulous wines too.

The cool Devon climate provides the vines with a long growing season to gently ripen the grapes, preserving wonderful fresh aromas and flavours.
