Domaine des Cognettes, Muscadet Les Deux Terres

Domaine des Cognettes, Muscadet Les Deux Terres

£16.50

A fabulous natural Muscadet that ages phenomenally well.

This cuvée is a marriage of two types of soil encountered on the Domaine des Cognettes estate, the warmer and harsher granite and the richer and later gabbro.

The pressing is carried out in whole bunches, the fermentation is carried out with the natural environment of the grape, with very little sulphites and without fining.

A marriage of complicity and harmony to be enjoyed at any time. Best served with light chicken dishes, refreshing salads or with seafood. Serve chilled for the best expression.

Nose: A seductive combination of white fruits and small spring flowers.

Palate: The Melon de Bourgogne grapes from which the wine is made impart flavours of lime, lemon, green apple and pear. Crispness comes through at the end to give a bright aftertaste with plenty of acidity.

ABV: 12%

For bottles with corks, be sure to store your wine horizontally in a wine rack. Keeping wine on its side helps keep the cork moist, which is key for long-term storage, as a dried out cork can cause seepage and premature aging.

While it’s not necessary to keep screw top wine bottles on their sides, horizontal storage is nevertheless an efficient way to store your wines for maximum space and easy access.

About

Seventh-generation Muscadet winemaker brothers, Stephane and Vincent Perraud work together just outside of the historic, medieval town of Clisson on 28 hectares. Seventh-generation winemaker brothers, Stéphane and Vincent started working in their family vineyards in 1988 and since 2010 their vineyards have been completley organic, harvesting by hand and vinifying their wines naturally, with only native yeasts and minimal sulfur usage. The soils are mainly composed of weathered granite, gabbro (extremely dense and heavy volcanic rock), along with sand, clay, and quartz pebbles.
