Flower Marie



Flower Marie is a delicate, ripened, sheep's milk cheese, with a white bloomy rind. It is a rich, fudgy-textured cheese with a pillowy bloom on the rind.

Because of the moisture content the flavours can be quite intense, with grassy, earthy overtones and the sweet vegetal essence of the ewe's milk coming to the fore. As it matures the proteins break down the pate under the rind, and a balanced rich sweetness takes the helm.

Flower Marie pairs well with bold red wines.

It is necessary to apply a common sense approach to cheese care and respond to the cheese you have in front of you, as opposed to following rigid guidelines.

The best option is to keep the cheese wrapped in its waxed paper within a box in the fridge. The container will help to prevent the cheese from drying out and prevent the cheese from absorbing flavours.

About the producer

Golden Cross Cheese

Since 1989 Kevin and Alison Blunt have been producing specialist soft, mould ripened goats’ and sheeps’ milk cheeses on their farm in East Sussex.

Neither Kevin nor Alison was born into a farming family and neither planned a farming life. It was Kevin’s visits to his stepfathers farm where something clicked and the rest is history.

Over the years Golden Cross Cheese Co. cheeses have picked up many awards including the James Aldridge Memorial Trophy for Best British Raw milk cheese and the British Cheese Awards Best Soft White cheese four times.

This small family business continue to produce some of the most outstanding cheeses in the country.
