Why we love this
Product details
From the Costador vineyards in Catalonia comes this unique orange wine that is bursting with savoury citrus fruit character and has a crisp acidic freshness.
Made from an ancient, almost extinct Catalan grape variety, Sumoll Blanc are grown on 80-year-old bush vines at 600m above sea level. The wine is left to bubble away in an amphora for 12 weeks before its juice is extracted and then left to ferment again in an amphora for 6 months. It is then bottled in beautiful clay bottles to protect it from light exposure.
Winemaker Joan Franquet farms the ancient vineyards biodynamically with minimal intervention. Joan's vineyard is more than just a winery, it’s a real adventure, he discovers the most difficult places for growing grapes whilst also trying to revive almost extinct varieties.
