Why we love this
Product details
It is well known that Brixham Brown Crab is some of the best crab in the world! There's only one thing that makes this very special sustainable shellfish even more enjoyable, it's this rather wonderful traditional Potted Crab.
Locally and sustainably caught Brixham Brown Crab is steamed the morning of landing, it's then painstakingly handpicked separating the brown and white meat. The white meat is then combined with a lightly spiced, rich butter full of flavours of mace, tarragon and lemon juice and then finally potted into a tub to lock in all those glorious flavours.
It is such a fabulous traditional way to preserve one of the finest delicacies from the South West.
We love spooning this potted crab over toasted sourdough, buttery crumpets or piled onto vibrant salad leaves.
"I have eaten crab all over the world and have come to the conclusion that the waters of the South West of England are home to the best brown crab in the World. The deep, fast-flowing water off the English Channel is a rich source of food and the rocky coastline makes a perfect habitat." Mitch Tonks
