Halen Môn Sea Salt is made from the clean, clear seawaters that surround the beautiful island of Anglesey in North Wales. It is the purest salt we have found and gives the most amazing depth of flavour to our meat.

Sea salt was made on the island of Anglesey up until the late eighteenth century when it was halted after makers were fined for adulterating the sea brine with Cheshire rock salt. Today, Halen Mon have resurrected this age-old craft by combining traditional hand harvesting and unlike their predecessors, they don’t add anything.
In 2014, Halen Mon joined the likes of Champagne and Parma Ham after being awarded Protected Designation of Origin status by the European Commission.
How is Pure Sea Salt Made?
Once naturally filtered, the salt water is gently heated in a vacuum so it boils at a low temperature.
Gradually, the water releases steam and turns into a very salty brine.
When the concentration of the salt in the water is high enough, it is released into shallow crystallisation tanks and leave it there to allow the sea salt crystals to form.
Once the crystals have formed, the sea salt is harvested by hand.
Finally, the flakes are rinsed in brine until they shine.
