      • There are few things in life more welcoming than the scent of a roast chicken, it has to be the ultimate comfort food, the sort of food that brings people together around the table.

        Our Properly Free Range Whole Chicken is such a family staple, with each person preferring their own bit, from the sweet gamey leg meat to the delicately textured breast, not forgetting the fight over the sought after chicken oyster.

        Over the years we have become famous for our Properly Free Range Chickens. We are passionate about the life our chickens lead, which we know results in the most wonderful, unique flavour - chicken as it should be. 

        We take time to develop a real depth of flavour in our birds. They eat a wholesome, healthy diet foraging amongst pasture and woodland,  creating that wonderful flavour that we have become famous for.

        As all our free range poultry is naturally reared, weights are not absolutely precise. 

        Our properly free range chicken is truly a masterclass in how chicken should taste and has picked up many accolades including a renowned Great Taste Award. Here's what the judges had to say:

      • 100% Properly Free Range Chicken

      • Preheat the oven to 180˚C. 

        Put the chicken in a roasting pan, rub with a little oil or butter, salt and pepper, both inside and out, and add any flavourings you're using to the cavity. 

        Free Range Chicken Cooking Time: Place into the oven, chicken cooking times vary depending on the weight: 

        • 1.5kg 1 hour 10 minutes
        • 1.75kg 1 hour 15 minutes
        • 2kg 1 hour 20 minutes
        • 2.5kg 1 hour 30 minutes

        Allow the chicken to rest for 20 minutes before carving.

      • All of our meat is delivered frozen ready to pop straight into your freezer, once defrosted these can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days.

      Our free range chickens are free to roam outside on woodland pastures in natural light, and with the freedom to display their natural instincts such as scratching for food and dust bathing. These contented birds have properly developed bones and muscles and a strong natural immunity from scratching and pecking in the soil.

      All Pipers Farm meat is blast frozen at the perfect moment, locking in important nutrients and guaranteeing it tastes amazing. We deliver everything to your door in sustainably sourced, recyclable packaging. Our properly free range meat is carefully wrapped in a fully home compostable, 100% British sheep's wool pouch to keep it in perfect condition during delivery. Should any of your meat thaw during delivery; you can safely refreeze it and keep it frozen for up to 6 months. When you're ready to cook up a feast, you can speedily defrost most of our meat in 15 minutes (larger joints take a little longer). Simply place the items still in their individual packaging into cool water and they will carefully thaw.
