  • Handmade from unadulterated, raw cows' milk, Westcombe Cheddar has a deep complex flavour with long notes of citrus, hazelnut and caramel. These long notes have given way to its tongue in cheek nickname of the 'five mile cheddar' as you're still tasting it 5 miles down the road!

Clothbound and wrapped for 12 - 18 months, the resulting cheese has a wonderful depth of flavour that is savoury but not too sharp. A staple in any fridge, this handcrafted traditional cheddar has a soft, smooth texture and is at its best with paired with a lingering red wine.

    Approx 200g

  • Raw Cow's Milk (Milk), Starter, Animal Rennet, Salt.

    Not suitable for Vegetarians.

  • Usually despached with 14 days shelf life.

    Store in the fridge.

It is necessary to apply a common sense approach to cheese care and respond to the cheese you have in front of you, as opposed to following rigid guidelines.

The best option is to keep the cheese wrapped in its waxed paper within a box in the fridge. The container will help to prevent the cheese from drying out and prevent the cheese from absorbing flavours.

For best flavour, bring to room temperature one hour before serving.

If freezing, freeze on day of delivery. Defrost in the fridge. Once defrosted, keep refrigerated and use within 24hrs.

Beef, Asparagus & Rarebit Stacks

We are using Westcombe's Raw Milk Cheddar to make a traditional rarebit mix, fortified with dark stout. This is a delicious spring dish that uses the first sprigs of asparagus that are starting to peak through, ready for the summer months ahead.
