For many hundreds of years, mutton was the main form of sheep meat eaten in the United Kingdom. Yet over the past 40 years it has virtually disappeared from our kitchens - and we were in real danger of losing one of our iconic foods. Forgotten no longer, our grass fed mutton has a fantastic flavour.
Our mutton comes from our hardy hill sheep, Swaledale ewes, the grandmothers of our grass fed lambs. Raised on rough upland pasture and slowly grown for at least two years. Our grass fed mutton is hung for three weeks creating a superb texture, with enough fat to create mouthwatering flavour.
The Mutton Box includes:
- 500g Diced Mutton
- 2 250g Mutton Loin
- 1 Half Leg of Mutton
- 500g Mutton Mince
- 600g Scrag End of Mutton
When your meat arrives simply pop it into your freezer.
When you have chosen what you would like to eat, drop your items, still in their individual packaging into cool water and wait for 15 minutes until they are fully thawed. Once fully thawed remove the packaging and get cooking.
You can also gently thaw any items by leaving them in the fridge or at room temperature.
