  • Figgie Daniel is an energetic wine with a lively spritz. Unfiltered and retaining the lees in the bottle, this wine is produced using the same "Col Fondo" method ("Col Fondo" meaning 'with the bottom' in Italian, referring to the leftover lees sediment) that were traditionally used to make Prosecco, before the process was overly commercialised.

The grapes which make the 'Figgie Daniel' are sourced from a vineyard planted in 2008 with 24 acres now under vine. Varietals planted include Pinor Noir, Chardonnay, Madeline Angevine and Bacchus. All of the winemaking, including the bottling, takes place on-site and then matured in various vessels including oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.

This wine offers a light and spritzy drinking experience, with green apple, lemon rind, elderflower and yeasty characters.

We recommend a gentle shake before serving to distribute the sediment evenly.

Nose: Ripe apples, citrus and elderflower

Palette: Fresh and fruity, with a balance of nuttiness and tanginess

    About the maker

The Sharpham Estate, home of the Sandbridge Barton winery, is located along the banks of the River Dart in Devon. They have been making wine in the Dart Valley for over 40 years and harvest up to 60 tonnes of grapes each year. They are widely recognised for producing some of the finest English wines, with intense fruit flavours and aromas. Their wines are made from carefully selected grape varieties grown on sheltered slopes in the heart of South Devon.
