Why we love this
- FAMILY FARM
For those cooking for a smaller crowd, needing space in the oven, or simply prefer the white meat of the bird, our traditional Free Range Turkey Crown is the perfect Christmas Turkey for you.
We are delighted that our Free Range Turkey Crown has been voted the Best Christmas Turkey by Good Housekeeping.
Our multi-award winning Turkeys have a fabulous old-fashioned depth of flavour that packs a real punch, unlike many other Turkeys you might eat today. We often hear wonderful comments such as:
"We have NEVER had such a delicious turkey! One of my guests said it was like eating velvet.. so tender and juicy with a wonderful game flavour."
"Highest tribute I can pay is that these delicious birds match in all ways those which my Grandfather produced over 50 years ago, in which he took enormous care and pride over."
"Without doubt voted by all the family the tastiest Turkey we have ever had, worth the money. Will be ordering next year."

We believe our properly Free Range Turkey has such a special flavour and wonderful texture because of the way we so carefully grow them, rearing them carefully, in harmony with nature and in time honoured tradition.
How we rear our Properly Free Range Turkey
Our free range turkeys are all 'Bronze' birds, a traditional slow-growing, native breed that is famed for its ability to thrive outdoors on grassy pastures.
We rear our turkeys outside on extensive grassy pastures, where the birds have space to roam and exhibit all their natural instincts like foraging for juicy worms and scratching deep-rooted pastures.
The diet of our properly free range turkeys is so important to produce happy, healthy birds that taste delicious. That's why we take so much care over the diet that our birds eat. We feed our turkeys a completely natural diet free of artificial additives and chemicals just straightforward cereals, grass, nettles, fodder beet and cider apples.
Our traditional Bronze Properly Free Range Turkeys live a properly free-range life, reared in small groups with plenty of space to roam.
To further develop the stunning flavour of our Free Range Turkey Crown, and give you meat at its very best, our birds are dry-plucked individually by hand. We then hang each bird for at least 12 days, creating a beautiful Game Hung Turkey Crown.
Our free-range poultry is naturally reared, so weights are not absolutely precise.
All our Turkey Crowns are delivered FRESH (unless you are one of our Highlands and Islands customers, then we will deliver your bird to you FROZEN on our two day service)
We recommend placing your order for your Christmas Turkey as early as possible to avoid missing out.
100% Free Range Turkey
Preheat your oven to 190°C/180°C fan/gas 5. Bring your turkey crown to room temperature.
Cook your turkey crown for approximately 25 minutes per kg.
Add some butter to keep it moist. Cover the turkey with a loose tent of foil, which will help stop it drying out. Remove the foil 30 minutes before the end of the cooking time, put the temperature up to 200°C/190°C fan/gas 6.
Baste the turkey with its own juices. Insert a skewer into the thickest part of the crown when you think it’s cooked. If it’s cooked, the juices should run clear rather than pink. If it’s not, put it back in the oven and check it with the skewer regularly.
Give your bird plenty of time to rest, say 30-40 minutes at room temperature. The ensures the gorgeous juices will stay in the meat rather than run all over your carving board, but be sure to catch any that do emerge and add to your gravy.
The roasting tin may no longer hold the meat but there is so much value left behind. Simply add a pot or two of our pure turkey stock and a good glug of wine then stir to release the hidden treasures.
All our Turkey Crowns are delivered FRESH*
*Unless you are one of our Highlands and Islands customers, then we will deliver your bird to you FROZEN on our two day service.
When your fresh bird has been delivered, remove it from its paper wrapping.
Place the turkey on a wire rack or a plate and put it into the bottom of your fridge, making sure there is plenty of space around it so that the air can circulate. If any juices appear on the plate, tip them away, you want to keep your turkey cold and dry.
Keep hold of your card label for the 'best before' date and the weight of your bird to help guide you when you come to cook it.
