Trusted Taste, Proven Quality

Hear directly from our customers why slow‑grown, properly reared food makes all the difference.

"This was my first Pipers Farm turkey - it most certainly won't be the last. The whole procedure, from reserving my turkey to delivering it was first class. I have been cooking turkeys for many, many years, and this was the best yet. It was so tasty, moist and delicious. Can't wait for next Christmas now!!"

Paula McVittie

"l bought a box of meat as a Christmas present for a very special friend recently and hear she is absolutely thrilled with the quality/service etc. l cannot recommend more highly. Will certainly use again, well done Pipers Farm."

Jo Green

"This Christmas I orderd both my turkey and a beef fillet. Both were delicious, but the beef fillet was outstanding. Various guests, some of whom work in hospitality, said it was the best piece of meat they had ever eaten. I prefer to but meat infrequently, but whne I do, to make sure it's top quality. Pipers Fram is top quality."

Christina Latham-Koenig

"I have to say everything i have had from the farm as been top standard. Christmas i order turkey crown and shoulder of lamb mince beef, steaks and bone broth, etc and was not disappointed absolutely beautiful and delivered when they said it would be delivered. Can't find any faults. Keep up your hard work and thank you."

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Bronze Turkey?

Bronze Turkey is a heritage breed that originated by crossing wild turkeys with European domesticated birds in the 18th Century. With a dark plumage and a beautiful coppery-metallic sheen, their colouring closely resembles their wild ancestors. Bronze Turkeys are a traditional slow-growing breed which thrives living outdoors amongst grassland pasture.

How do you cook a turkey crown?

Remove the turkey from the fridge the night before to reach room temperature and dry the skin for crispiness. Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas mark 4. Place the turkey crown in a roasting dish, add butter, and optionally cover with foil, removing it 15 minutes before the end. Check doneness with a skewer; juices should run clear. Let it rest for 30-40 minutes before carving. Use the drippings for gravy by adding turkey stock and wine.

What is beef on the rib?

Beef on the rib, often referred to as a rib of beef or prime rib, is one of the most prized cuts of beef. It includes the rib bones, which add both flavor and a striking presentation, making it a popular choice for special occasions. This cut is known for its marbling, with fat running through the meat to keep it tender and juicy during cooking. The rib of beef has a rich, deep flavor that’s often described as "properly beefy," especially when sourced from grass-fed cattle. It's ideal for roasting, offering a combination of succulent meat and crispy, flavorful fat.

What makes Pipers Farm's bacon different?

Here at Pipers Farm, we traditionally brine cure whole sides of our slowly grown native breed pork. Once cured, our sides of back bacon are hung and air-dried for a week before slicing. The whole process to make our award-winning bacon takes three weeks.

What is the difference between Mutton, Hogget & Lamb?

There are various definitions of lamb, but the most widely accepted is a sheep up to 1 year old. You can find lamb available in the market as young as 3 months old, which to us feels completely wrong. We rear a flock of sheep that straddles the bracket of lamb and hogget. Hogget is widely accepted as a sheep that is older than 1 year and under 2 years. Mutton can be anything from 2 years old.

How should I store my fresh Christmas meat?

The Christmas poultry (whole Turkey, whole Goose) will arrive fresh and wrapped in paper. It is best to remove this paper, place the bird on a wire rack or a plate at the bottom of the fridge and allow the air to circulate. It is important to keep your Christmas poultry dry.

Can I freeze down my Turkey?

We do not use any preservatives in any of our products, so it is best to store these in the freezer. All sausages and stuffing should be kept in the freezer or used within 3 days of being in the fridge.

All normal Pipers Farm products are blast frozen at the optimum moment ready for you to pop straight in your freezer. Where can I find cooking instructions?

All our cooking instructions can be found on each of our product pages.

Should I brine my turkey?

Our Turkeys do not need brining because of the breed we have selected. We grow our birds slowly only ever feeding them a natural diet, this builds a wonderful texture in the meat. We hang every bird for 12 days to develop a fantastic flavour. This means there is absolutely no need to brine. You will have plenty of flavour and succulence in the meat naturally.

Are your Turkeys organic?

Pipers Farm strongly believe in the principles set out by the organic food movement and understand that other food certification programmes such as red tractor or pasture for life apply some of these standards, however right from the outset, we felt the word 'organic' and the other programmes, such as 'Pasture for Life', would eventually lose its meaning. Instead, Pipers Farm decided that they wanted to produce food with their own set of standards and be totally transparent in discussing our methods.

What shelf life can I expect my Christmas cheese to have?

All our soft cheese are sent with a minimum of 7 days shelf life. For Stilton and some Blue Cheeses, we will send out with 20 days shelf life. For hard cheeses we will send with around 30 days shelf life.

Please check the storage tab on each product.

It is necessary to apply a common-sense approach to cheese care and respond to the cheese you have in front of you, as opposed to following rigid guidelines. All our cheeses are artisanal and are a living breathing expression of their terroir. If you look after your cheese well you can extend its life, if you haven't been tempted to eat it all in time!

The best option is to keep the cheese wrapped in its waxed paper within a box in the fridge. The container will help to prevent the cheese from drying out and prevent the cheese from absorbing flavours.
